As a Boston wedding photographer, I get the privilege of working at so many beautiful locations, but there’s one place that holds a special spot in my heart, especially when it comes to Cape Cod engagement photos. Old Silver Beach in Falmouth, is hands down one of my favorite places to shoot at. And if you’re planning a spring or summer engagement session, I highly recommend this spot. Let me take you on a little journey of why it’s so magical and why it’s the perfect place to capture the love between you and your partner!

Why Old Silver Beach is Perfect for Cape Cod Engagement Photos

Cape Cod has a ton of beautiful beaches, but Old Silver Beach is the one for engagement photos, especially if you’re looking for that magical sunset glow. You see, most beaches on the East Coast don’t offer sunsets over the water. Instead, they tend to set behind sand dunes or the entrance to the beach—so the golden hour light is kinda tricky to capture. But not at Old Silver Beach! The sun sets directly over the water, providing the most stunning light for those romantic, intimate moments you want to remember forever!

I absolutely love how the glow of the setting sun at this beach makes everything feel so dreamy. It’s like the world slows down for a moment, and all you can focus on is each other and that soft, golden light surrounding you. If you’re looking for Cape Cod engagement photos with that perfect golden hour vibe, this is definitely your spot!

The Best Time for Your Cape Cod Engagement Photos

Timing is everything when it comes to your Cape Cod engagement photos! I would recommend shooting in mid-June! It’s just before the summer crowds roll in, so you get all the beauty of Cape Cod with none of the chaos. The temperature is also ideal—not too hot, and definitely not sticky! It’s the perfect kind of warmth that makes you feel comfortable without sweating through your clothes. Plus, the beach isn’t crowded yet, so we don’t have to worry about photobombers ruining the vibe (seriously, it’s a win-win)!

In Cape Cod, especially during the summer months, it can get busy, so I always recommend booking your session during early summer or even spring to avoid the crowds and get the best weather. Mid-June is the sweet spot, where you get the warm weather, the beach to yourselves, and those amazing golden hour photos!

What to Wear for Your Cape Cod Engagement Photos

Let’s talk outfits because Rana and Christos absolutely crushed it with their looks! I love it when couples put thought into their outfits for their Cape Cod engagement photos—it really makes a difference in the final shots. Rana wore a flowy dress that moved beautifully with the breeze, which was perfect for a beach setting. Christos complemented her with a chic yet laid-back outfit, creating a seamless, coordinated look that suited the vibe of the beach perfectly.

When planning your engagement session, especially for a spring or summer beach shoot, I always recommend opting for soft, romantic colors. Think light neutrals, pastel shades, or classic whites that make you look effortlessly chic against the backdrop of the beach and water. Don’t forget about shoes! Go for something comfy (like sandals or going barefoot) since, you know, sand. But trust me, it’ll be worth it to look amazing and feel comfortable!

Also, if you want to feel like a true goddess like Rana, I always suggest getting professional hair and makeup for your session. She looked absolutely stunning with her perfectly styled hair and glowing makeup. A professional touch can give you that extra boost of confidence and make sure you look your best throughout the shoot. Plus, it helps keep you looking flawless, even when the ocean breeze tries to get playful with your hair!

Why Old Silver Beach is Ideal for Sunset Engagement Photos

There’s just something about beach engagement photos that screams romance, and when you time it perfectly for sunset at Old Silver Beach, the magic is real. The soft, warm lighting during golden hour creates the kind of intimate, timeless moments that you’ll look back on and cherish for years to come. Plus, the peaceful atmosphere of the beach at sunset makes it the perfect backdrop for capturing genuine, candid moments between you and your partner.

Sunset beach engagement photos on Cape Cod are everything! You get that dreamy, ethereal light and the calm energy of the beach at dusk. It’s one of my favorite parts of any engagement session, especially on Cape Cod, where the sun and the water create a breathtakingly beautiful canvas. When you see the photos from your session, you’ll understand exactly why sunset beach engagement photos are one of the best ways to capture the love you share!
